Der Band stellt das Verhältnis zwischen Text und Stil in den Vordergrund und behandelt in seinen Beiträgen die wechselseitigen Bezüge der Disziplinen Textlinguistik und Stilistik. Die Aufsätze bieten theoretische Reflexionen zum Thema sowie praktische Analysen von Textsorten und den Stilmitteln im Text und im Diskurs. Zudem untersuchen sie die Stellung von Text und Stil in den unterschiedlichen Medien, Übersetzungsleistungen wie auch in der Fremdsprachendidaktik. Die breit angelegte Problematik macht deutlich, dass die scheinbar selbstverständliche Relation zwischen Text und Stil unter verschiedenen Gesichtspunkten betrachtet werden kann und dass strukturelle, pragmatische und kognitive Aspekte in der modernen Forschung nicht als antagonistisch, sondern als komplementär anzusehen sind.
