They encounter General Jinjur's all-girl Army of Revolt and join forces with the Scarecrow and the Tin Woodman to retake the Emerald City. Along the way, they face challenges from Mombi and are aided by the Queen of the Field Mice. They eventually discover that Tip is actually the long-lost princess Ozma, who becomes the rightful ruler of Oz. The book explores themes of women's rights and was influenced by activist Matilda Joslyn Gage. "The Marvelous Land of Oz" has been adapted for the stage, film, television, and comics.
