Anliegen des Buches ist es, das Potential der Phänomenologie innerhalb der Affektforschung anhand theoretischer und empirischer Fallstudien aufzuzeigen. Der Band versammelt Beiträge aus der Philosophie und Soziologie, die unter anderem an phänomenologische Ansätze von Husserl, Scheler, Merleau-Ponty, Patocka, Levinas, Waldenfels, Schmitz und Ratcliffe anknüpfen. Damit ermutigen die Texte des Bandes zu einem verstärkten Dialog zwischen philosophischer Reflexion und empirischer Sozialforschung.
