Die Anforderungen in der Arbeitsgesellschaft haben sich in den letzten Jahrzehnten tiefgreifend gewandelt – mit weitreichenden Folgen für Menschen mit Behinderungen. Insbesondere Menschen mit psychischen Belastungen finden sich zunehmend in Werkstätten für behinderte Menschen wieder. Diese ethnografische Studie nimmt Werkstätten in Deutschland aus subjektivierungsanalytischer Perspektive in den Blick und zeigt, wie „Werkstattbedürftigkeit“ als soziales Phänomen hergestellt wird. Die Autorin entwickelt das Konzept eines Regulativs der Werkstattbedürftigkeit, das die Grenzen zwischen erstem und zweitem Arbeitsmarkt neu vermisst – und deutlich macht, wie Menschen in Werkstätten in unsichere Subjektpositionen gebracht werden.
