This book explores the important role of trace elements in human health, including trace minerals, toxic trace elements, and major minerals. Essential trace elements are needed in small amounts for normal body functions, but both their deficiency and excess can harm health.
International experts study how different metallic elements, cations and micronutrients affect cell function. Using multidisciplinary approaches to cover the biochemical, physiological, and nutritional aspects of these elements, they give a deep understanding of how these minerals impact cellular and molecular processes related to health and disease.
The book is a valuable resource for health professionals, nutritional scientists, medical students, fellows, residents, and graduate students. It focuses on the functional biochemistry of specific metallic elements in various cell systems, providing current insights into how different metals regulate cell functions. Readers will gain knowledge about the importance of metallic minerals and trace elements. The insights from international authors will help advance understanding of how trace minerals can prevent diseases and address global health issues.
