This book provides a comprehensive review of lead-free halide perovskites and explores their potential to revolutionize solar energy conversion. From elucidating the fundamental principles of solar energy conversion to exploring innovative techniques such as chirality enhancement, vapor deposition, and operando characterization, this book offers a thorough and authoritative overview of the field.
Divided into three parts, the book begins with an introduction to the general properties of solar energy conversion mediated by lead-free halide perovskites. The second part of the book presents the latest developments and challenges of lead-free perovskite solar cells, and the book concludes with a section covering the current status and future trends of photocatalysis mediated by lead-free perovskites.
In this book, readers will discover eco-friendly alternatives to traditional tin-based solar cells, and learn about the promise of green hydrogen production, and the synthesis of value-added chemicals using perovskite-based systems.
With its breadth of coverage, this book is essential reading for researchers, engineers, and industry professionals seeking inspiration and valuable guidance to implement sustainable energy solutions using lead-free perovskite-based systems.

Silvia Colella is a researcher at CNR-NANOTEC (Bari, Italy). She received her Ph.D. in Nanoscience in 2010 and subsequently worked at the Institut de Science et d’Ingénierie Supramoléculaires (ISIS) in Strasbourg, as well as at BASF SE in Ludwigshafen, Germany. From 2013 to 2019, she was a researcher in the Department of Physics at the University of Salento (Lecce, Italy). Her research focuses on understanding and controlling the properties of emerging photovoltaic and optoelectronic materials, with particular emphasis on metal halide perovskites. She has published 100+ papers and has received 5,000+ citations in the field of organic and hybrid optoelectronics.
Andrea Listorti is an Associate Professor at the University of Bari, Italy. He previously served as a researcher at the University of Salento (Lecce, Italy) and earned his Ph.D. in Chemical Sciences in 2009 from the University of Bologna. After completing his doctorate, he carried out research at CNR-ISOF (Bologna), Imperial College London (UK), and the Italian Institute of Technology (Lecce, Italy). Since 2006, he has authored 100+ scientific publications in the areas of molecular photophysics, solar fuels, and optoelectronic devices. His current research focuses on the fundamental understanding and practical exploitation of organometal halide perovskite materials.
