This book provides insights into current developments and the revolution in industrial applications of miniaturized bioreactors. Miniaturized bioreactors transform industrial biotechnology by facilitating quick, efficient, and cost-effective development. These small-scale bioreactors enable high-throughput screening of many conditions simultaneously, speeding up the tuning of critical parameters such as temperature, pH, and nutrition delivery. This results in higher product yields, better quality, and faster bioprocess scale-up. Miniaturization also saves vital resources and lessens the environmental impact of bioproduction. By providing a diverse platform for bioprocess development, miniaturized bioreactors can potentially accelerate biotechnology innovation and sustainability. The book further discusses the role of miniature bioreactors in microbial screening, high-throughput cellular screening, the revolutionizing of upstream and downstream processing systems along with numerous potential applications. The subsequent sections describe the uses of miniaturized bioreactors across industrial biotechnology, including biopharmaceuticals, drug development, small- and large-scale industries, and the food and beverage sectors.
