In den letzten Jahren bedienen sich viele Unternehmen elektronischer Medien zur Beschaffung. Elektronische Marktplätze sind ein häufig eingesetztes Mittel, Anbieter und Nachfrager zusammenzubringen und Markttransaktionen elektronisch abzuwickeln, doch werden längst nicht alle Potenziale genutzt, die sie für die Beschaffung bieten.

Michaela Schütt analysiert, wie sich Informationen, die im Zuge elektronischer Transaktionen auf Marktplätzen zustande kommen, zur Verbesserung der Beschaffung nutzen lassen. Einerseits analysiert sie den Informationsbedarf in den einzelnen Phasen des Beschaffungsprozesses und andererseits untersucht sie, welche Informationen bei der Durchführung elektronischer Transaktionen entstehen. Beide Analysen führt sie in einem Modell integrierter Informationsprozesse zusammen und entwickelt Handlungsempfehlungen, wie die elektronische Beschaffung durch bereits implizit vorhandene Informationen unterstützt und optimiert werden kann.
