Das vorliegende Buch nimmt Formen alltäglicher Routinen in den Blick, die meist nicht hinterfragt werden: Sie sind in sich evident und geben keinen Anlass zur Infragestellung. So betrachtet, ist der Alltag – zumindest subjektiv – ,sicher‘. Er ist soziale Kontrolle, die vergessen wurde.
Neuere Sicherheitsdiskurse und -praktiken führen zu einer Erschütterung dieses Zusammenhangs. Ihre Legitimation beziehen sie aus außer-alltäglichen Ereignissen wie Terrorismus, dramatischer Gewalttätigkeit oder organisierter Kriminalität. Allerdings weisen sich die aktuellen Formen sozialer Kontrolle insbesondere durch einen Zugriff auf alltägliche Lebenszusammenhänge aus: Sie sind subtil ausgerichtet und überwachen Muster der Lebensführung auf unscheinbare Art und Weise. Durch diese besondere ,Kontrolle aus der Ferne‘ greifen sie in die Konstitution von Alltag ein.
Die Beiträge des Bandes greifen diese Zusammenhänge für unterschiedliche Bereiche des Alltags auf.
