Der vorliegende Band nähert sich dem Thema „Gesundheit“ aus einer bildungstheoretischen Perspektive. Angestoßen werden soll eine für Sozial- und Geisteswissenschaftler/innen wie auch gesundheitsbezogene Berufsfelder fruchtbare Debatte mit dem Ziel eines nicht-instrumentellen Gesundheitsverständnisses. Das hier zugrunde liegende Erkenntnisinteresse bezieht sich auf eine gegenstands- wie auch selbstbezogene Rückbezüglichkeit („Reflexivität“), eine radikale, und das heißt „von den Wurzeln“ ausgehende, skeptische Denkhaltung und schließlich das Gebot der (Risiko-)Folgenabschätzung innerhalb der Wissenschaften. Zugleich soll der Raum eröffnet werden für wissenschaftsbasierte wie auch praxisbezogene Diskussionen zur Professionalisierung von in Feldern der Gesundheitsförderung, der gesundheitlichen Prävention und Beratung tätigen Personen.
