Bedia Akbas erzielt durch die forschungsmethodische Triangulation verschiedener quantitativer und qualitativer Erhebungsverfahren wegweisende Erkenntnisse auf der Ebene der Verbleibanalysen von Erzieher(inn)en mit ‚Migrationshintergrund‘. Die Autorin liefert bislang fehlende, empirisch belastbare Befunde zur Beurteilung und Kritik gegenwärtiger berufspolitischer Entwicklungen, u. a. zeigt sie die weitreichenden Lücken im aktuellen Akademisierungsdiskurs zur frühpädagogischen Qualifikation auf. Selektionsentscheidungen gegen Fachkräfte mit ‚Migrationshintergrund‘ werden häufig mit Sprachdefiziten begründet. Diese Studie zeigt, dass sich hinter einem bedeutenden Teil der Sprachdefizit-Zuschreibungen lediglich ein Legitimationshaushalt für eine Praxis mittelbarer institutioneller Diskriminierung verbirgt.
