Ihre Studie beruht auf rund 50 qualitativen Interviews mit Führungskräften unterschiedlicher Organisationen, die auf dem Gebiet der politischen Kommunikationsberatung tätig sind. Weiterhin zeigt die Autorin auf, wie qualitativ erhobenes Datenmaterial so aufbereitet werden, dass mittels Clusteranalyse eine Typologie voneinander abgrenzbarer Dienstleistertypen entsteht.
