In den Mittelpunkt stellt er dabei die subjektiven Sichtweisen der Jugendlichen selbst über ihre biografische Entwicklung und ihre interaktiven Erfahrungen mit sozialen Regelsetzungen in der Familie, der Schule, im Wohnumfeld und mit Akteuren der Jugendhilfe. Durch die sensible Erschließung und systematische Analyse des Erzählmaterials der Jugendlichen füllt der Autor eine bedeutsame Lücke in der Erforschung jugendlicher Delinquenz. Ganz im Sinne einer engagierten Sozialforschung gelingt ihm zudem ein kluger Theorie-Praxis-Transfer durch die Überführung der Befunde in Schlussfolgerungen für die Prävention von Delinquenz im Jugendalter.
