Alexander Witt fokussiert sich im Rahmen des Forschungsprojektes Untergang von Unternehmen auf große deutsche Unternehmen, die in den vergangenen 40 Jahren infolge von M&A-Transaktionen ihre Unabhängigkeit verloren haben. Anders als die bisherigen Veröffentlichungen des Forschungsprojektes konzentriert sich die vorliegende Forschungsarbeit auf die Käufergesellschaften und analysiert die Gründe für den Erwerb sowie das weitere „Schicksal“ der Akquisitionsobjekte in den Käufergesellschaften. Mithilfe eines qualitativen Ansatzes gelingt es dem Autor, höchst relevante Einsichten zu Wachstumsstrategien im Allgemeinen und zu M&A-Strategien im Besonderen zu gewinnen.
