Mirjam von Buttlar betrachtet die bisher kaum beachteten Zusammenhänge von (nachhaltigem) Personalmanagement und nachhaltigkeitsorientierten Geschäftsmodellen und untersucht fünf mit dem deutschen Nachhaltigkeitspreis ausgezeichnete Unternehmen bezüglich ihres Personalmanagements. Es wird gezeigt, dass einzelne Funktionen wie z. B. die Personalgewinnung und die Kommunikationskultur wichtige Voraussetzungen für die Entwicklung nachhaltiger Geschäftsmodelle darstellen und dass das Personalmanagement eine vielseitige und strategische Rolle in nachhaltigen Unternehmen einnimmt. Abschließend werden Anregungen zur Weiterentwicklung des Konzepts nachhaltigen Personalmanagements gegeben.
