Dr. Pezzuto received his A.B. degree in chemistry from Rutgers University and Ph.D. in biochemistry from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (now Rutgers University). He is currently Professor and Dean of the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences at Western New England University and holds an adjunct professorial position at UMass Chan Medical School. Dr. Pezzuto has authored or co-authored over 600 publications that have been cited over 60,000 times (H-index = 120). Based on citation impact, Dr. Pezzuto is ranked in the top 0.08% in the world and at the top 0.0004% in his discipline. He is inventor/co-inventor of several patents, the editor of five books, and a member of several editorial boards of international journals. He is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and recipient of the Volwiler Research Award by the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy. His current research interests are predominately in the areas of biology-driven natural product drug discovery and characterization, with primary emphasis on combinatorial chemoprevention. Work continues investigating the health benefits of grapes, with a strong focus on nutrigenomic aspects.
